As you know, I’ve been working on micro-urban fantasy stories. Which, I have to say, is a blast to write. It’s been fun to sit down and punch out a short story with a character who’s sold her soul for cats. Of course, we can’t forget the self-cleaning litterboxes. As a cat mom of three, a self-cleaning litterbox is a dream. I know they exist but they’re a bit expensive.
Rambling aside, the urban fantasy micro-stories are one of the projects I’ve been working on. They’re easy to do whenever inspiration hits. There’s an idea that pops up in my head and I can punch out the story in one go (usually). But I have another project that I’m working on as well.
I know I had a post a while back about it, but I am a huge fan of cozy mysteries. They’re quick easy reads with quirky storylines and lots of character development. It’s hard to get addicted. Especially when they have puns in the titles. I’m sure it’s clear that I adore them.
So, with that combination as my setup, my current WIPs are fantasy cozies. I have two at the moment that I’m jumping back and forth between. One is set in a small southern town with a heroine who can see and speak with ghosts. When she stumbles across the corpse of the town’s busy body, the newly made ghost won’t let her rest until the murder is solved.
The other is, you may have guessed, my micro-stories. I won’t go into too much detail about the plan but eventually, I plan to blend them together into another urban fantasy cozy. I’m doing my usual and taking on a lot at once so please wish me luck on this journey!
